Little Extinctions

Little Extinctions Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 16, 2026

Pennaraptora ("the studio") is a game studio in Seoul, Republic of Korea, run by Jongchan Park. This policy describes how the studio handles personal information in connection with the game Little Extinctions ("the game").

Personal information the game collects

The game does not collect personal information and does not send it to the studio or anyone else. The game has no accounts, no ads, and no in-app purchases.

The game sends no usage analytics, crash reports, or performance reports, and uses no cookies or other means of collecting information automatically. For information handled by Steam, see "Stores and Steam" below.

Information stored only on your device

The game stores the following information only on your device. It is not sent anywhere.

  • The species you have discovered and the names you gave them (the species_book.json file in the app data folder)
  • Volume and language settings

Stores and Steam

Purchases and payments are handled by the store that sells the game, and that data is governed by the store's privacy policy.

The Steam version uses Steam features (Steamworks). The handling of that data is governed by Valve's privacy policy.

Email inquiries

If you email the studio, the studio receives the following information.

  • Your email address and, if your email includes it, your name
  • The content of your message and any attachments

The studio uses this information only to reply to you. The studio processes it on the basis of its legitimate interest in answering your inquiry (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)) and, under Korean law, Article 15(1)(4) and (6) of the Personal Information Protection Act. The studio does not share it with anyone other than Apple, as described in "Processing by Apple and transfer abroad" below.

The studio keeps a message for one year after replying to it, or for one year after receiving it if the studio does not reply. After that, the studio deletes the message from both the mailbox and the trash so that it cannot be restored.

Processing by Apple and transfer abroad

The studio receives and stores email using Apple's iCloud Mail service. The studio has Apple receive and store the messages for it, and in doing so the messages are transferred outside the Republic of Korea.

  • Recipient: Apple Services Pte. Ltd. (Singapore). Its contact page is linked below.
  • Information transferred: all of the information listed in "Email inquiries"
  • Countries: Apple does not name a single country where iCloud Mail is stored. According to Apple's supplement for the Republic of Korea, it may be stored on servers in the United States, the EU, the United Kingdom, or countries participating in the Global Cross-Border Privacy Rules (CBPR) system.
  • When and how: each message is transmitted over the network when it arrives.
  • Recipient's purpose and retention: receiving and storing the messages, until the studio deletes them.
  • Legal basis under Korean law: Article 28-8(1)(3) of the Personal Information Protection Act
  • How to refuse and what happens: if you do not send an email, nothing is transferred. Because the studio takes inquiries only by email, you will then be unable to contact the studio.

How the information is secured

  • The Apple Account that receives the email uses two-factor authentication.
  • Only the privacy officer has access to the mailbox.

Your rights

If you have emailed the studio, you may ask to access, correct, or delete your personal information held by the studio, or ask the studio to stop processing it. The legal guardian of a child under 14 may make the same requests.

Send requests to the contact below. A request sent from the email address you used for your inquiry is accepted as coming from you. Someone acting on your behalf may make a request by including a letter of authorization signed by you. The studio handles requests without delay, and if it refuses one it tells you why. You may object to a refusal by writing to the same contact.

If you live in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you may also ask the studio to restrict processing, object to processing, or give you your information in a machine-readable format, and you may lodge a complaint with the data protection supervisory authority where you live or work.
